We see marriage as ordained by God and believe those entering into this sacred institution should do so prayerfully and with a lifetime of commitment to each other as the foundation on which marriage is begun.

As part of preparation for marriage it is essential that any potential problem areas or 'pit falls' be identified prior to commencing married life together. This is in order for these issues to be addressed in an appropriate manner, so that any major differences, misunderstandings or divergent expectations can be 'worked through' prior to marriage.

This includes a comprehensive questionnaire that is completed by the couple (bride and bridegroom to be) covering such areas as family of origin, budgeting & finances, health, previous relationships, conflict resolution, family planning and sexuality, goals and dreams, spirituality, expectations, homemaking etc.

This questionnaire forms the basis for discussion with the couple. This process can take 5-6 sessions depending on the number of issues to be resolved or discussed. In addition the couple is shown a 5 session DVD series Secrets to Lasting Love, which teaches the importance of honouring one another, examines personality differences and how we can bring out the best in our spouses, provides skills for communication & conflict resolution and teaches the couple how to meet their mates most important relational needs.

We have found over many years that with more thorough preparation, the couple is far better equipped to cope with the challenges that inevitably come when two people come together in marriage thereby giving them a much stronger foundation on which to build their lifelong relationship.

The significance of the marriage covenant and commitment meant that we wanted to be as prepared as we could be before we began life as husband and wife. We were so glad we did our marriage preparation through Capital Healing Rooms as it provided foundational tools which ensured our marriage began on the right track. The practical advice provided, often drawn from personal experience and given in a relational, effective manner, was extremely worthwhile. We have been able to apply these tools in our own marriage and our communication skills and understanding of each other and our different needs have been enhanced as a result.
